We had a fantastic day at the Gower Show last month – the weather was mixed – wonderful sunshine and torrential downpours! However it didn’t spoil our day. What did make our day was the number of readers who came to the stand to say hello and how much they enjoy TheBay. Many thanks to you all for taking the time to speak to us and we look forward to seeing you again next year.
One thing we did notice at the show was the number of charities and businesses still using plastic bags and balloons. We spent an afternoon with Dave Tonge on the Gower Coast Adventurer and he explained the dangers of these two everyday items. If they get into the sea they are eaten by dolphins and turtles who mistake them for jellyfish – the result is usually a slow death.
So my aim is to encourage all stands attending the next Gower Show to substitute all plastic bags and balloons with something more environmentally friendly and less dangerous. I was very surprised to see one of the offenders was the NFU! TheBay were giving away re-usable cotton shoppers – if we can do it so can bigger organisations!
