In June he attended the only barber exhibition to be held in the UK, Barber Connect, which was held at the Celtic Manor Hotel in Newport.
A taste of the future…
So Barber Connect was a great success, I was among the 3000 barbers that attended that day. I managed to get more free stuff than I could carry, but also got a little carried away and spent a fortune too. I was also lucky enough to meet one of my barbering inspirations, Rob Bertus of the Schorem Barbers in Rotterdam, who are considered to be the best barber shop in the world. I turned into a major barber geek while bouncing from seminar to seminar. However what I brought back with me was an insight into the emerging styles for
the coming months. The fade and parting is starting to pass and become replaced with bolder grades through the sides and heavier textured tops. As we move into autumn and winter I think we will really start to see men’s trends changing.
Exciting times are also upon us at 57 Barbers, it is ALL going on…we have had a brand new refit in our Sketty shop and it looks the business. We have also welcomed two new members to our team – joining us now are Nathan and Gemma who are both time-served talented barbers who will be working alongside Darren and me. We are certainly looking forward to the new dynamic they will bring to the shop.
