COME RAIN OR SHINE
CHANTELE RETURNS THIS MONTH IN TIME TO GUIDE US THROUGH THE BEST OF THE HIGH STREET BUYS FOR THIS AUTUMN
Once again I find myself commenting on the weather. I feel I probably mention it quite a lot in my column, but in the UK the weather really does dictate our fashion choices.
So this month I have been looking at fashion for the impending rain and cold weather, which isn’t a problem for me as I am definitely an autumn and winter person. I love to wrap myself up in a big wool coat, scarf, hat and a pair of boots and go for a walk in the rain cwtched under an umbrella with my lovely hubby. It’s one of the benefits of living in Wales as I get to do it quite often!
When I started researching items for this month’s piece I mentally managed to spend well over £1000 on my imaginary shopping list, on all the amazing coats and jackets I found and loved. I was impressed at the standard on offer this season compared with last year’s offerings. I’m sure there will be something to suit everyone’s taste and budget. You really don’t need to spend a huge amount on your autumn winter wardrobe if you buy wisely.
Buy one really good warm winter coat; something substantial for when it gets really cold and a lighter coat or cape for when the weather is milder. The same thing goes for your feet; a quality pair of boots is more likely to last you all winter or multiple winters!
The biggest trend of A/W 2015 is the 70s with lots of rich, deep autumnal colours being used in dresses, tops and trousers. There are lots of leather knee high boots, floppy felt hats, bold prints, capes, ponchos, shearling camel coats, trench coats and lots of fake fur collars – I am so in my element!
