Out of the landfill and into the playground…
Although cycling is, in itself, a very ‘green’ past-time, the cycling industry hasn’t always necessarily been the most environmentally friendly. So, it’s really exciting to see a new company nailing its flag to the eco mast.
Meet Wishbone, a New Zealand company producing a fantastically adaptable children’s bike that converts from Trike to Small Balance Bike to Larger Balance Bike effortlessly and is made from, wait for it… recycled carpet.
Wishbone uses pre-loved, residential carpet. It’s collected from home-owners in the United States, shaved to remove the backing, and shredded. Glass fibre is added for strength and it is then turned into millions of little resin pellets, ready for moulding into a bike frame.
The Wishbone bike is suitable for a child from 12 months – with three wheels, helping babies to walk and then ride.
Later it converts to two-wheels for a pedal-less bike – learning to balance is easy.
The frame incorporates Wishbone’s patented RotafixTM system for integrated adjustability of the seat and frame all the way from 25cm to 50cm high.
The Wishbone Bike is suitable for children from 12 months up to 6 years. Wishbone bike is one of the smallest and the tallest balance bikes on the market.
Wishbone Bike 3in1 comes with everything you need from baby walker, to toddler trike to balance bike.
The entire Wishbone range, including bikes and accessories is available at Urban Cyclery, the featured model is priced at £169.99 and would make a perfect Christmas gift.
