Mother of the bride make-up

with Sarah Martell

Amanda Edwards’ daughter Morgan became engaged over Easter. Amanda is starting to think about what ‘look’ she may want when the special family day comes around. Many mothers worry about how they are going to achieve the ‘wow’ factor – they are more mature and most beauty features rightly focus on the bride and her bridesmaids.

Sarah Martell is a professional make-up artist, based in Swansea. Sarah studied at The London College of Fashion in hair, makeup, prosthetics for film and television. This course covered all aspects of makeup – from historical foundations to current airbrushing techniques across fashion/editorial, bridal, theatre, Film and Television contexts.

Two years since gaining her BA Hons Degree, Sarah is using her skills in a range of work. She has also gained IMDB status after working on the independent film ‘High Tide’ with Long Arm Films, as lead hair/makeup artist to local and acclaimed actor Melanie Walters from ‘Gavin & Stacey’ and Samuel Davies who has appeared in ‘Dr Who’.

Sarah is continuing her professional development through her association with the Bath Academy of Media Makeup (BAMM). Sarah has attended a range of workshops in Bath since graduating including one on Trauma Makeup effects for TV Drama with one of the lead makeup artists from ‘Casualty’ and most recently a specialised work-shop updating her airbrushing skills.
