22nd Annual Village Open Gardens

With the Llanmadoc & Cheriton Gardeners

Sunday 1st July, 1pm to 6pm

AWARD WINNING VILLAGE GARDENS OPEN AFTERNOON

The Village Gardeners of Llanmadoc and Cheriton open their gardens for one afternoon each year to raise money for charities. The scheme was started 21 years ago to raise some funds for the local churches and chapel. Since then it has grown significantly and been recognised many times by the Swansea in Bloom Awards. If you’ve been before you will know this is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon enjoying someone else’s garden in a rural Gower setting.

Last year was very special. Not only was it our silver jubilee but we reached the magic £100,000 target for local charities. This year will be our 22nd Open Gardens and, with your help, we hope to be able to support this year’s local charities- and have a great time while we’re doing it. The nominated charities are The Gower First Responders, Parkinson’s Support, Prostrate Cancer Research and the senior’s mental health unit Ysbrid y Coed.

Come along and join us on Sunday

1st July from 1pm. There will be approximately 14 open gardens; some formal, others ornamental and even a woodland set-ting. There are productive vegetable gardens and cottage gardens, some with stunning private views of the sea, sand, salt marshes and distant hills. Whilst there are some ‘show gardens’ others are smaller but full of creativity. The individual gardeners are on hand to chat about their hobby/passion but most of all they want to inspire other gardeners, especially those just starting out on a project. All the ideas are free, we would like visitors to take away a few and try them out. Who knows there might be other communities that will get together to open their gardens, then we can come and visit you.

To make things easy we have free parking in the mid-dle of the village and a free minibus shuttle service which runs up and down the village all afternoon. You’ll find wonderful teas in some of the gardens as well as a variety of drinks, a raffle and plant sale which is always a favourite.

Come along with a friend or two, have a relaxing afternoon, meet up with like minded people and take away happy memories, we’d would love to see you. Tickets are only £5 for entry to ALL the gardens. You will be so enthralled you may not manage to visit all of them unless you come early.
