CHRIS GUTS AND HIS SURFING MATES DROVE TO SNOWDONIA’S WAVEPOOL FOR SOME MUCH NEEDED SURF

WE ARE OFFICIALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BEST SUMMER WEATHER FOR OVER 40 YEARS, AS HIGH PRESSURE HAS TAKEN UP RESIDENCE OVERTHE UK FOR THE LAST FEW MONTHS.

PERFECT SUNBATHING AND BARBECUE CONDITIONS PREVAIL, WEEK AFTER WEEK.

WITH SUCH AMAZING WEATHER THOUGH, THE GREAT EARLY SUMMER SWELLS THAT WERE KEEPING US ENTERTAINED HAVE EVAPORATED AS QUICKLY AS AN EARLY MORNING MIST. THE ATLANTIC HAS GONE TO SLEEP AND IS SHOWING NO SIGNS OF AWAKENING ANYTIME SOON.

SO, WITH NO SURF FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE IT WAS TIME TO GET CREATIVE.

THANKFULLY, WALES IS HOME TO THE WORLD’S FIRST COMMERCIAL WAVEPOOL (THINK ALTON TOWERS FOR SURFERS) LOCATED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SNOWDONIA NATIONAL PARK. A FOUR HOUR DRIVE AWAY, AND A COST OF £45 PER HOUR SEEMS A BIT STEEP BUT WITH GUARANTEED SHOULDER HIGH WAVES EVERYDAY OF THE WEEK, IT WAS A PRICE WE WERE WILLING TO PAY.

HERE’S  A SELECTION OF THE BEST BITS FROM A CLASSIC DAY OF SURFING, IN A POOL, IN SNOWDONIA
