It’s usually around this time of year, that I get asked a lot of questions like ‘What’s the quickest way to burn fat? What’s the fastest way to get a six pack or what is the fastest way to lose weight?’ Why? Because summer is coming. That means we will be wearing less clothing, our swimming costumes will be making an appearance, we will be exposing our body more than we do in winter and so we want to be looking our best. Also, the months of May, June, July and August are when most people in the UK go on holiday. Who wouldn’t want to look good in the hot sun, chilling by the pool or walking up and down the beach?
Reading this article will help you prepare for the summer. It will highlight some key strategies which you can implement to feel more confident, happier and less self-conscious in your own body. Is it too late to work on that summer body? No.
Everybody will have different starting points.
It is important to understand what is realistically achievable and what your timeframe is to achieve it.
Here are a few tips…
- Have a goal you want to focus on. This could be a particular area of the body which you want to change or improve. This could be a performance related goal such as lifting heavier weights or running a 5k. Whatever your goal, make sure you know what it is. This will help motivate you.
- Calculate the amount of days and weeks until your holiday or until you want to achieve your goal. From this, plan backwards. Take into consideration how many times a week you will be able to exercise around work, family and any events like birthdays etc. that you have coming up. Even select your training days so you know from the start and it is clear.
- Track your progress. If after a week you are feeling better, have more energy and notice your strength or fitness improving, then you are well on the way to getting results.
To answer the questions, I have put together some answers below…
What’s the quickest way to burn fat?
Doing a combination of resistance training and cardio. The duration of the exercises doesn’t have to be long, but the intensity of the workout needs to be high. Heavy weight, fast movements, sprint intervals are some good examples.
What is the fastest way to get a six pack?
Diet. I don’t mean by diet that you need to starve yourself, but nutrition is key. Eating the right foods, ones that don’t make you bloated. I personally stay away from eating bread, pasta, rice as this makes me too full, which doesn’t show the abdominals. Choose lighter options and eat in a calorie deficit.
What’s the fastest way to lose weight?
Be consistent. Have a routine consisting of quality exercise, balanced nutrition and sufficient sleep. Linked in with being consistent and sticking to the programme is discipline. You must be strict with yourself and avoid too many treats or cheat meals which will slow down the results process.
It’s not too late, it’s never too late. I hope that from reading this you have a clearer perspective on health and fitness. Ultimately, it’s not all about having that summer body but living longer and having a fit and healthy lifestyle. Make that your priority.
