Come along and join us on Sunday 7th July from 1pm. For just £5 there will be a dozen or so gardens open; some formal, others ornamental and even a woodland setting. There are productive vegetable gardens and cottage gardens, some with stunning private views of the sea, sand, salt marshes and distant mountains.
To make things easy we provide a free guide, free parking in the middle of the village and a free minibus shuttle service which runs up and down the village all afternoon. You’ll find wonderful teas in some of the gardens as well as a variety of drinks, a great raffle and plant sale which is always a favourite.
A lot of work goes into preparing your afternoon visit which is about enjoying the experience of visiting someone else’s garden and meeting the gardeners. They are all show gardens – for just one day.
Why do we do it you may ask? 23 years ago, the very first open gardens supported the local churches. Since then we have raised over £100,000 for 33 different charities, mainly medical and social. This year we are supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research Wales, Alzheimer’s Society and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Every garden is unique, some have incredible views others tranquillity and some that even bustle. Many visitors return year after year, partly for the gardens but also the company. They meet friends they may have not seen for some time and where better than in beautiful surroundings over a cup of tea. Please come and join us, you can be assured it will be an afternoon to remember.
PS. This year we’ve asked the Red Arrows to give us a flyby on the way to Swansea.
