Summer in Swansea. With an ever-increasing variety of wines to choose from, the time has never been better to try new refreshing and flavourful styles. These wines have been chosen for their freshness, concentration of flavours and expressive personality. They DO cost more than some, however we hope you will find they are well worth it.
(Western Cape, South Africa) £14.95 NDJ Wine Merchants
A completely enthralling sparkling wine from this top producer. Methode Cap Classique means it has been made using the traditional method as used in Champagne. A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay and aged for 15+months in the bottle on the lees (spent yeast), it has a compelling richness and elegance. Fine bubbles, a creamy mousse and ripe, zesty lemon and lime flavours along with a persistent refreshing finish, makes this the perfect sparkl-ing for those warm summer evenings.

Worth seeking out, this is Pinot Grigio as you may not know it. This Pinot Gris (Pinot Grigio) is made in a style that is full bodied and mouth filling with forward fruit. It is dry with rich apricot and nectarine flavours, finishing with lovely warming spice. What a way to experience Pinot Grigio.

Warwick Estate, based in Stellenbosch, are well known for producing premium quality wines and this beautiful rose is no exception. Made from the South African red grape varietal, Pinotage, it is quietly elegant and dry with delicate, fresh red fruit such as strawberry and watermelon. Refreshing, uplifting and at just 11% abv, light enough to slowly sip at lunch with some perfectly prepared prawns.
RED – TEMPTING TEMPRANILLO: DEHESA LA GRANJA TEMPRANILLO 2011, PESQUERA
(Castilla Y Leon, Spain) £13.99
Fine Wines Direct UK
The iconic winemaker, Alejandro Fernandez is considered to be amongst the finest in the world and here in Castilla Y Leon, this tremendously interesting red wine is made. Aged 24 months in barrels, it is a powerful, intense red wine with fleshy red and black fruit along with a distinct spiciness. It has not been fined or filtered (as the belief is that this strips some of the flavour out) so it is well worth pouring into a carafe/wine decanter and leaving the sediment behind in the bottle. Try with barbecued red meats in particular. Incredible value.
