With autumn closing in, it’s time to reflect on the summer that was. To be fair, it’s been a pretty stellar one as far as surf goes with a minimum of flat spells. There’s been lots of fun, small days, a couple of classic swells and an almighty storm that walloped the beaches with huge winter style surf in the middle of August. The water took its time to warm up but when it did, oh boy, it got warm enough for boardshorts, which is a rare thing for Welsh surfers to be seen surfing in.

All in all, it’s been a cracker of a summer with a mixed bag of conditions that have been for the most part entertaining and occasionally challenging.

Here are a few images that capture the changing moods of Gower’s line-ups this summer.
