RED – LASSIA MALBEC 2016, Bodega Patritti  (Patagonia, Argentina) £12.95

From the region that has grown up with the influence of Welsh settlers comes a Malbec that claims to express a Patagonian identity. Showing red and black plums and cherries along with a slight smokiness and mint, this Malbec has a freshness associated with cooler areas and in particular the strong winds unique to this area. A patriotic reason to try!

An entrepreneurial Welsh couple acquired Chateau du Seuil (Say) in the 1980s and it is now run by the second generation, Nicola and Sean Allison. Their wines are becoming increasingly recognised and it’s not hard to see why.

WHITE – DOMAINE DU SEUIL BORDEAUX BLANC 2018 (Bordeaux, France) £11.99 *Organic

A vivacious and racy blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. It shows some lovely, fresh and ripe citrus, peach and apricot fruit with a hint of delicate vanilla (from a portion of the wine being aged in new oak). Semillon gives a richer feel to the blend. Perfect on its own!
