With Christmas around the corner, while WHAM! is playing on the Christmas playlist we tend to overindulge at this time of year. The festive season is supposed to fun and enjoyable however some may find this time pretty stressful. Here we give you a few tips to stay relaxed and healthy this Christmas.
With Christmas dinner often filling us up too much, making simple changes of having smaller portions on Christmas Day, not overindulging in lots of chocolate and sweets and switching some of the richer creamier foods to the fresher items e.g. cauliflower instead of cauliflower cheese.
Often our regular workouts are cancelled over the festive period but that doesn’t mean you can’t go for regular walks after your lunches. It will help keep your heart healthy and may burn a few extra calories.
Drinking alcohol in moderation is always advised. Drinking no more than 14 units a week is recommended. It is important, if you do drink this amount making sure you drink this over a few days rather than binge drinking.
The main thing is to enjoy yourself this Christmas with family and loved ones. Remember the GP surgeries have their usual opening times with the out of hours service available during the evenings and nights. Local pharmacies are also open during the festive period.
