Bay is delighted to be a sponsor of Swansea In Bloom.
Swansea in Bloom was started about 25 years ago as a joint venture with the City and Council of Swansea, but sadly, due to financial constraints the council had to with-draw its support in 2017 and the competition closed.
At the end of 2018 the group’s management committee reformed and successfully reorganised the competition. The committee is run wholly by volunteers, who give their time and energy to making this competition a great success. Kevin Johns MBE, SIB’s honorary president said “The competition has always been a massive event in Swansea, and it really meant something to win an award. And many winners went on to represent the city in Wales in Bloom and Britain in Bloom competitions.”
Entries are now open to schools for this year’s Swansea in Bloom competition, with the main competition for households and businesses opening during March. So, we are calling on businesses, schools, communities, care and sheltered accommodation and residents to register for the competition which will be judged in July this year.
To enter you simply have to go to the website at www.swanseainbloom.co.uk and fill in the entry form.
Alternatively, you can contact the secretary Ian Norton on 07548768769 to obtain a hard copy entry form, which can be filled in and sent by Royal Mail.
So, if you love your garden – no matter how big or how small – get your entry in and start preparing for the coming months.
Bay will be publishing the winning entries for the schools competition in its August issue. The awards ceremony for the main event will be held in September.
