The Pettifor Trust has initiated a new project called Keeping People and Pets Together which aims to help people in times of financial hardship by providing them with food and support for their pets. Keeping People and Pets Together aims to reduce the number of animals being abandoned or given up for adoption, thereby relieving pressure on our local animal sanctuaries. This project has arisen as a result of the current pandemic and has highlighted an on-going need within the community. The Pettifor Trust has been overwhelmed with calls for help from people who are elderly, ill, disabled or isolating who need help taking animals to the veterinary surgeries for treatment or for assistance in paying their vet’s bills.
The project will include a pet food bank, a pet ambulance service for transporting pets to vets or re-homing centres if necessary, along with a telephone advice help-line.
The Pettifor Trust is working with Burns Pet Nutrition who has kindly sponsored the project by supplying naturally made pet food for this project, and the Aviva Community Fund. This enables anyone to contribute to the project via www.avivacommunityfund.co.uk/keeping-people-and-pets-together
