A look at 2021

Commercial Insurance with Julie Heatley-Thomas - Senior Account Executive, Prescott Jones

As we come to the end of the year, we reflect on what has been a hugely challenging one for our clients. The resilience shown by the business community in building back, still against a backdrop of the Covid-19 risk and subsequent regulations has been remarkable.

Protecting our clients’ interests in this fast-moving environment has been a real challenge but one we believe our colleagues have risen to.

In this, our 30th year in business, we have had to navigate one of the most difficult insurance market conditions we can remember, with reducing capacity and increasing premiums.

It is testament to the experience of our colleagues and the respect we enjoy in the insurance market as an independent broker, that we managed to find equitable solutions for new and existing clients.

The risk landscape is evolving with emerging risks such as cyber coming to the fore. It is still worrying that the percentage increase in businesses suffering a cyber-attack is not matched with the same increase in the purchase of cyber insurance. We are up to the challenge of better communicating cyber-risk transfer solutions in the coming months.

Given our commitment to continue to support our existing clients and new ones, we are delighted to have two new Commercial Account Handlers join us recently. We look forward to introducing them fully in future editions.

It has been a challenging year, but we haven’t lost sight of our need to support our local communities. For example, we have two Aviva Community Fund tenders outstanding where we are working on behalf of local charities. During October myself and pampered pet Ruby completed a 62-mile walking challenge for Cancer Research. More challenging than you think with an ankle injury (me) and arthritic leg (Ruby). Hopefully we can complete many more challenges in the year ahead. We are also supporting grass roots football by sponsoring the under 14 team at Ammanford AFC juniors.

So, as we come to the end of 2021, we congratulate you on your business skills in getting through the pandemic, we wish you a happy Christmas Season and a positive and prosperous 2022.
