Bay was delighted to hear of a young local lad who wanted to help out his rugby hero.
When 10-year old Callum Powell of Tycoch heard that his rugby hero Ifan Phillips had been involved in a motorbike accident he knew that he had to do something to help. Osprey’s hooker Phillips had suffered catastrophic injuries to his leg, which had to be amputated above the knee. Callum who goes to Sketty Primary School and plays rugby for Dunvant RFC under 11s began training for a 5K run and in January completed his run with his hero Ifan being at the finishing line holding the ribbon. Callum raised over £5,000 which will go to Ifan’s rehabilitation costs and a prosthetic leg.
It was an emotional day for everyone involved. Well done Callum, your family and friends are justifiably very proud of you.
