Q: Sometimes I’d like to enjoy something I’m watching or listening on a larger screen than my iPhone. Is there a quicker way to do that than sending myself the link, or researching for the right song on the bigger device?
A: Absolutely, and it’s something we can thank Apple TV for, as this functionality originated with the introduction of that device. Now, as long as you’re running MacOS Monterey, and iOS 15 (and your devices are compatible with this feature), you can send whatever you’re watching or listening to instantly to your computer exactly where you left off.
This is a system-wide control so don’t look for an option in the app you’re running. Instead, open your iPhone’s Control Centre by swiping down from the top right-hand corner of your screen. Playback controls of what you’re currently enjoying can be found top right, and top right of that is a little AirPlay symbol. Tap on it and you’ll see options. iPhone is selected by default, but if there’s a computer within range it’ll appear on the list below. Select it, hit play, and you’ll see and hear your music or video on your computer.
As this is system wide, everything on your Phone will now play on your Mac, until you change it back again.
